The PCI has set up its new “Hellmann Laboratory” for computational chemistry. Quantum chemist Hans Hellmann (1903-1938) worked with Wilhelm Jost (1903-1988) in Hanover to make quantum theory applicable to chemistry. In 1937, the first textbooks on the then still very young field of quantum chemistry were published, both written by Hans Hellmann.
The newly established computer chemistry laboratory on the first floor of the PCI will primarily be used for computer chemistry labs in the future. For example, labs for the modules Quantum Theory and Symmetry of Chemical Bonding (AG Becker) and Computational Quantum Chemistry and Spectroscopy (AG König) will be carried out here.
