Fresh insights from the 6th FAIRmat Users Meeting in Bochum

Recently, the Feldhoff research group traveled to the Ruhr metropolis of Bochum to participate in the 6th FAIRmat Users Meeting. This gathering brought together innovative minds and pioneering experts, all dedicated to the development and dissemination of state-of-the-art methods in the field of research data management.

FAIRmat is a consortium under the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI) and is building a FAIR data infrastructure for condensed-matter physics and the chemical physics of solids. NOMAD is a free and open-source data management platform for materials science. Its aim is to make scientific research data FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable), allowing materials science data to be managed and shared in ways that are truly useful to the research group and the scientific community.

During the meeting at Ruhr-Universität Bochum, the Feldhoff research group eagerly engaged in insightful dialogues and presentations. Their objective was to distill the latest insights and strategies pivotal to the enhancement and application of research data management and to further integrate these innovations within their NOMAD Oasis framework. The exchange of ideas was highly inspiring as researchers and data scientists explored the implications of the FAIR principles—Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability, and Reusability—in the era of big data.

The event provided an exceptional opportunity to learn about emerging trends and technological implementations that aim to redefine how data is meticulously curated and utilized. The insights gained will significantly inform and refine the group's strategic roadmap, ensuring that their implementation of NOMAD Oasis remains at the forefront of research data management.
