Once again this year, there was great interest in the Night out with Science, with many visitors attending the activities and events organized by Leibniz University.
This time, Verena Becker from the Institute of Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry used laboratory experiments to demonstrate how electrochemistry helps to store electrical energy in a suitable form and make it usable again. How does this work in principle? What problems can arise? What is the “yield” of these processes?
Using the example of water electrolysis and the generation of electrical energy with a hydrogen-oxygen fuel cell, we were able to shed some light on these complex processes.
We were delighted by the interest shown by the numerous visitors!
