Team Catalysis and Membranes

The former research group of Prof. Dr. Jürgen Caro focused on integrating catalysis and membrane technology to advance the efficiency of chemical processes. The work on catalytic membrane reactors enabled the circumvention of equilibrium limitations, resulting in higher conversions and yields. The group developed considerable expertise in zeolite, MOF, and COF membranes, as well as in mixed matrix membrane systems. A particular highlight was the innovative control of gas flow through membranes by applying electric fields or light, allowing for precise adjustment of membrane performance.
